I quite like how John Cage carried himself in his expressive nature, and although some still look down on what he made I wish to make people think as much as he did. The style of music I think I wanna make is a surreal ambient type of sound that provokes people to sit at peace and listen to the song. In a way, I would like to pay ammaise to 4’33” through my piece. The sounds I have collected have been kind of all over the place and I think the resulting mix will end up being a bit different than what I originally imagined. The other direction I could go in is playing on the jazz aesthetic of punctual beats followed by soothing undertones that could be fun to listen to. Truthfully I am quite unsure of what the final result will be without listening to all the potential samples that are in the shared folder. I would like to be able to provoke some emotion or some sort of reaction, but ideally, I would hope for that to be in the positive sense. In the opposite direction, it would be a lot easier to make something that pisses people off or make them uncomfortable which I would like to stay away from. Through meshing sounds and using different effects, I wish to accomplish such a sound with additional layering to make a cohesive piece. I am still unsure how things will go, but I will play around with a couple of the sample options to try and guide me towards my goal.
