Artist Statement #2

For this TikTok filter assignment, I wanted to make something fun, but also have something to present for the current times. I quite enjoyed working with Blender and seeing all the diverse ways in which one can use different “equations” to generate the same thing. For my first filter I just wanted to play around with the modeling skills that were taught in class to try and replicate another figure from a picture. For this filter I used an old freaky “I Voted” sticker that was from New York state, this came out after the local government was accepting any submissions from the general public. I thought this little figure would be fun to make and I also thought of how this character would act in real life, what they would embody in a way.  At the time we were supposed to submit our filters before the time of the election by which my first filter would have had a different reception. The other filter I decided to make, and post was a simple Kirby character where I had a challenging time working with material physics and that made me rethink my animation style for the actual filter. I quite like doing the modeling from other points of view that was not the same way I was taught. Lastly, I wanted to see how the Ai sculptor (Meshy.Ai) would work as well, and it worked for transferring to Blender, but could not be put into TikTok (too many triangles 🙁). In all I quite liked this project in all.
