Sound Project Statement

The final scheme for the final sound project was an idea that morphed the idea of interstellar meets alien on the interstate kind of vibe. The main aspect of the song was an alarm and clashing that gave the stranded-in-space vibes. I used a repeating cat meow with effects to make the overarching alarm sound that caused many to experience an uneasy and head throbbing feeling (sorry Corrina, I <3 lying). I believe this effect landed quite well amongst my peers and generated a consistent uneasy trapped feeling, although many interpreted it in their ways I loved reading how people interpreted the audio in painting a mental image. There could be some variation in how the sound is given to add more layers of variation throughout the piece. Using multiple effects to generate distant distorted looping effects to give a space theme and a cut and reverbed car sound as the interstellar lemon (shitty car). I believe I made people have a visceral reaction to my work which I believe was the scope of the assignment. I quite enjoyed working with sounds and effects, but learning audition compared to the little background I had in garage band made me a little frustrated. I know there are many softwares for meshing samples together and I would like to explore them all more in depth especially when working with the animated project. I now have a presence on SoundCloud so it is safe to say that I now have ‘clout’ and am a micro influencer.
